About us

Violin on music score

Bristol Savoy Operatic Society are one of Bristol’s longest running Gilbert and Sullivan Societies.

We rehearse on Monday evenings 7.30pm to 9.30pm at Fishponds Methodist Church Hall Guinea Lane ( off Fishponds Road ), Fishponds, with additional rehearsals on Wednesdays close to the date of a production. We are a friendly group and rehearsal includes an obligatory coffee break to have a good old chat.

Our main production is in October and is performed at the Redgrave Theatre Clifton, which has a seating capacity of 320. We also perform a number of smaller concerts and shows throughout the year.

Recent shows performed from 2005 to 2007 have received 4 star review and we have gained several Rosebowl and NODA awards and nominations.
It is obvious from our faces how much we, the performers, enjoy treading the boards of The Redgrave Theatre.  How about coming along to try it for yourself – we know you won’t regret it.  Our Society is always pleased to welcome new ‘players’. Membership is by an informal audition, and details can be obtained from the Chairman.
There are also jobs for those of you who are not singers. The society always needs help with costumes, make-up, scenery. Or why not become a ‘patron’, suporting the work of the society with an annual subscription, which entitles you to a free ticket for our annual show.
